Mᵉ Emily Kissel

Mᵉ Emily Kissel practises in the areas of family and estate law at FOURCAND. She received her civil law degree from the University of Ottawa and a juris doctor from the Université de Montréal. Prior to joining FOURCAND, Mᵉ Kissel was a partner at a national firm for several years. She has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of family law for their 2023 and 2024 editions.

Mᵉ Kissel regularly appears before the Superior Court of Québec and the Court of Appeal of Québec. She also, appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in the case Association de médiation familiale du Québec v. Bouvier.

Mᵉ Kissel represents clients in divorce cases involving issues such as the division of matrimonial property, spousal and child support, claims for compensatory allowances and provision for costs, and claims for unjust enrichment between de facto spouses. She has been involved in complex divorce cases with significant financial aspects and raising issues of private international law.

She has also acted as counsel in numerous custody cases, some of which involved children with special needs or allegations of parental alienation, sexual or physical abuse made against a parent. She also handles cases involving the relocation of children, and the wrongful removal or retention of children.

Finally, Mᵉ Kissel often represents clients at settlement conferences.
