Mᵉ Patricia Fourcand

Mᵉ Patricia Fourcand, Ad.E, practices family law in Montréal with the firm FOURCAND, after having been a partner for more than 20 years with a large national firm. Thanks to her recognized expertise in family litigation, her contribution to society and her actions for the benefit of the profession, she received the designation of Lawyer Emeritus from the Québec Bar in 2021. She is also a Fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Family Lawyers. She has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of family law mediation for their 2021 to 2024 editions.

In addition to handling family and estate law matters for the firm’s various clients, Mᵉ Fourcand has been involved in complex cases such as child abduction, the validity of foreign and religious marriages, and multi-jurisdictional asset division.

Her commitment to family law led her to sit for several years on the Liaison Committee with the Superior Court in family matters. A sought-after speaker, she regularly gives speeches in this area of law both in Québec and abroad. Mᵉ Fourcand also has extensive experience in estate law, having handled thorny cases involving the division of family patrimony and the liquidation of matrimonial or civil union regimes.

Mᵉ Fourcand is also involved in causes aimed at recognizing the place of women lawyers in the profession. She has collaborated with the Québec Bar’s Justicia project and currently participates in the Panorama Committee for ethnocultural diversity and inclusion in the Québec legal profession. Through her commitment, she has influenced human resources practices in large law firms to make these institutions more representative by promoting openness and inclusion. She is also one of the lawyers who founded the Québec chapter of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, which aims to recognize the presence of black lawyers in the profession, but also to defend the rights of members of the black community.
